Cindy McCain: Hypocrites in Action

It appears that Cindy McCain is now hitting Michelle Obama on the campaign trail, as evidenced by this recent CNN interview with her, where she defended her comment about "always" been proud of her country, an obvious and and intentional cheap shot at Senator Obama's wife:

As the presidential campaigns of John McCain and Barack Obama tangle over which is unfairly dragging the prospective first ladies into the general election battle, Cindy McCain sent a signal this morning that she's not about to step out of the fray.

The wife of presumptive Republican nominee John McCain stood behind her initial response to Democratic counterpart Michelle Obama's comment that for the first time she was "really proud" of her country. She told CNN's John King that her own remark - that she had "always" been proud of her country - had been a spontaneous response, not a planned attack.

Funny that she mentions that this wasn't an attack, because it appears that she then tries to go in for the sympathy after bashing Mrs. Obama, she then brazenly states that wives are offlimits! (apparently unless you want to attack another canidates wife)

Cindy McCain, wife of John McCain, said Thursday the spouses of the presidential candidates should be allowed to have some privacy.

"I do not think that spouses and family members ... are fair game," she told CNN's John King.

Of course, I think we all know why Senator McCain's lovely wife would not want to make poor descisions by spouses and issue in this campaign. But if she continues the pot shots at Mrs. Obama regarding a supposed lack of patriotism (funny, because your husband is the one who wants to continue the disasterous war in Iraq, I guess you love our country and not our soldiers), then perhaps she should be reminded that her past is blighted as well:

In 1989, Cindy McCain became addicted to opioid painkillers such as Percocet and Vicodin, which she initially took to alleviate pain following two spinal surgeries for ruptured discs and to ease emotional stress during the Keating Five scandal, which involved her as a bookkeeper who had difficulty finding receipts. The addiction progressed to where she resorted to stealing drugs from her own AVMT.

Yes, nothing like stealing drugs from a charity to get your kicks. I'm tired of being pushed around by the GOP from a falsee high horse of morality, and if Cindy Hensley wants to go after Michelle Obama based on a quote taken out of context, then be our guest. But you don't need any context to understand the content of Mrs. McCain's character, and I hope the Republicans can understand that too.

While it might have been better (2.00 / 1)

to avoid mentioning Cindy McCain's drug use, I'm disgusted that she's taking shots at Michelle. I'm not terribly fussed about your bluntness, so I'm rec'ing this. If Ms. McCain wants to keep people from scrutinizing her drug use and her tax returns, she'd better start giving Michelle the same respect and tolerance. Practice what you preach, or suffer the consequences. Simple, really.

Even John McCain lusts after teh engels.

Re: honestly... (none / 0)

Neither do I, but the other side has to realize that they are very vulnerable in this area. That's the only thing that might stop the attacks on Michelle.

while i dont agree with... (none / 0)

unwarranted attacks...  there is a difference between attacking a personal tragedy and something that was said on the stump.  my 2 cents.

Personal? (none / 0)

What about what she said on GMA? What about her firing the emplyee who blew the whistle on her resulting in her orgazinatio getting sued IN COURT? That is as publis as you can get.

Re: honestly... (2.00 / 1)

Both are mistakes. Perhaps I was a bit blunt about focusing on Cindy's past drug use, but I think that if she wants to start attacking Michelle, then she better be damn careful. If she doesn't want wives to be involved, then she needs to leave it that way.

Re: honestly... (2.00 / 2)

Amen to your diary.  A homewrecker and a drug addict should not go around bashing the patriotism of the other candidate's wife.  Cindy McCain is in a glass house and should not throw stones.  It's also just ineffective.  She comes off so vapid - "I don't know why she said it.  I just know I've always loved America" or whatever.  Phooey.  She is not an asset to the campaign at all.

John and Cindy McCain's personal story will be told publicly by someone during this campaign, although I hope and expect it will not come from Team O.

And I don't like (none / 0)

Someone getting a blank check to attack her husband's opponent's wife after....

1. She steals drugs paid for by the donations of others.

2. Fires an emplyee after he blows the lid off the DEA's hush-hush investigation, after which the employee successfully sued the organization, costing more donors' funds.

3. Gets off with a slap on the wrists and some community service.

Drug addiction is a personal tragedy, but she allowed it to become a public mess resulting in taxpayer time spent on an investigation and judicial proceedings and the dissolution of an organization that could have potentially done so much good.

Don't throw stones when you live in a 2.7 million, crystal, glass, trimmed in gold, fully staffed house.

A little off comment but I'm sick of the MSM meme of "We don't know Michele Obama."

Well..hello...We don't shit about Cindy McCain either.

I don't like where the MSM is pushing this...

Re: Cindy McCain: Hypocrites in Action (2.00 / 2)

Here's what the media tells us about Cindy McCain:

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/200 8/03/05/can-cindy-mccain-really-be-that- perfect/

She's rich and white.  What could be wrong with that?  "Can Cindy McCain really be THAT perfect?" asks CNN's crack reporter.

Did she love America (2.00 / 1)

While the DEA questioned her about where all those barbituates went? Did he love America while she was in court explaining why she fired the emplyee who went public after the feds tried to keep it hush-hush? Did her cammunity service (imagine what the sentence would have been if she was not so rich) fill her with a deep love? I hope she enjoyed her experiences in our crminal justice and civil court systems.
